PinClicks Alternatives: Which Half of It Do You Actually Use? (2026)

Short answer: PinClicks is a research instrument, not a pin tool — and it does four separate jobs. Most people subscribe for one of them and quietly pay for the other three. Whether you can leave, and what you replace it with, depends entirely on which job you actually open it for.
A disclosure before the detail: we make Pinstark, which includes Pinterest keyword and trend data. It is not a PinClicks replacement for two of the four jobs below, and we've said so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.
The four jobs, and which one is yours
1. Keyword discovery — finding what people actually search on Pinterest. This is why most people sign up. 2. Rank tracking — watching whether your pins hold position on those keywords over time. 3. Competitor account research — pulling apart what's working on someone else's account. 4. Compliance monitoring — its alerts when a pin gets flagged AI Modified, or loses its visit-site button.
Work out which of these you opened it for last week. That single answer decides everything below.
What leaving actually costs you
Be clear-eyed about this part, because two of these have no clean replacement.
Rank tracking at scale is the hardest to replace. PinClicks tracks 25 keyword rankings on Pin Pro and 5,000 on Pin Plus, plus changes in Pinterest's own search suggestions. Nothing in the pin-creation category does this. If you're running a niche site where Pinterest is a primary traffic channel and you need to know whether last month's optimisation moved anything, that's a real capability and you should think hard before dropping it.
Account Explorer has no equivalent either. Being able to study another account's top pins and topics systematically is genuinely useful competitive research, and it's a category of its own.
The compliance alerts are underrated. PinClicks will email you when a pin gets flagged as AI Modified or when the visit-site button disappears on a blacklisted destination. That second one matters more than it sounds — a pin that silently stops linking anywhere is a dead asset you'd otherwise never notice. This is worth naming honestly given we generate AI imagery: if you're publishing AI pins at volume, monitoring is a legitimate thing to want.
Exporting is Pin Plus only. If you're on Pin Pro at $29 and you've been copying data out by hand, you were never getting the full product anyway.
What you don't lose
Keyword discovery is the cheapest of the four to replace, which is awkward for PinClicks because it's the job most people subscribe for.
Pinterest Trends is free, from Pinterest itself, and shows real seasonal demand curves. It's the primary source; every tool in this category is built on top of it or on scraped search data.
Pinterest's own search bar is free and underused — type your seed term and the autocomplete suggestions are real queries people type, ranked by Pinterest's own sense of what matters.
Our Pinterest Trends page shows the keywords Pinterest ranks — weekly, monthly, yearly and seasonal views, refreshed daily — and you can browse it without an account. Paid tiers open up more regions and niches, a volume index with a 52-week history on each keyword, and a keyword lookup that checks any term you type against Pinterest's data. What it doesn't do is track your rankings or research other people's accounts, which is the honest limit of the comparison.
The full method for using any of these — how to read the data and turn it into a pin title that ranks — is in Pinterest keyword research.
Replacements, by why you're leaving
"I only ever use the keyword explorer." → Pinterest Trends plus Pinterest's autocomplete covers more than most people expect, for nothing. If you want the data attached to the thing you're actually making, a generation tool with keyword data built in removes a step: you look up the term and produce the pin in the same place rather than exporting a list and starting again in a design tool.
"$29 a month is a lot for keyword research I do twice a month." → That's the real complaint behind most PinClicks cancellations, and it's a fair one. Research tools are priced for daily users. If you research in bursts, free sources plus a tool you're already paying for beats a second subscription.
"I need the rank tracking." → Stay, or accept losing it. This is the honest answer. The 5,000-keyword tracking on Pin Plus at $49 has no counterpart in the pin-creation category, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
"I want research and production in one place." → This is the genuine gap PinClicks leaves by design: it tells you what to make and then stops. You still need something to produce the image, write the title, and post it. Pinstark closes that loop — paste an Amazon, Etsy, Shopify or Walmart link and it generates product photography, editorial overlays and an SEO title and description per pin, then publishes to Pinterest on every tier including the free one. The trend and keyword data sit in the same product, so the keyword you looked up becomes the pin you post.
"I'm a blogger, not an affiliate." → Worth saying: PinClicks' strongest testimonials come from niche-site owners driving blog traffic, and that's a genuinely different use case from affiliate pinning. If Pinterest feeds a content site you own, the research depth is likelier to pay for itself than it is for someone pinning product links.

The table makes the real distinction visible: these aren't competing products so much as adjacent ones. PinClicks is the better research instrument by a wide margin. It just doesn't make anything.
The honest case for staying
If Pinterest is a primary traffic channel for a site you own, you check rankings weekly, and you study competitor accounts as part of your process — PinClicks is doing work nothing else on this page does, and $29 is cheap for a channel that matters. Cancel it and you'll feel the absence within a month.
If you opened it twice last quarter to look up keywords you could have found in Pinterest Trends, you're paying a research-tool subscription for a task that's free.
FAQ
Is there a free PinClicks alternative? For keyword discovery, yes — Pinterest Trends and Pinterest's own autocomplete are free and are the underlying source. For rank tracking and account research, no free equivalent exists that we've found.
What does PinClicks cost? $29/month for Pin Pro or $49/month for Pin Plus, with annual at $249 and $399 — a 28% saving. Exporting, category keywords and the 5,000-keyword tracking are Pin Plus only. There's a free trial.
Does Pinstark replace PinClicks? Only for the keyword-discovery half, and only partly. We include Pinterest trend data, a volume index with 52-week history, and a keyword lookup — but no rank tracking, no competitor account research, no exports. What we add is the other half PinClicks doesn't do: making and publishing the pin.
Can I use both? Plenty of people should. Research in PinClicks, produce in a generation tool. They overlap barely at all — which is the whole point of working out which job you're paying for.
What about Tailwind's keyword tool? Tailwind sells Pinterest SEO as a separate $11.99/mo product alongside its scheduling product, so you'd be buying two subscriptions to match one PinClicks plan. We compare that stack in Tailwind alternatives for Pinterest.
If the missing half is production: paste any Amazon, Etsy, Shopify or Walmart link into Pinstark and get a complete pin pack — product-true AI photography, editorial overlays, and an SEO title and description written for Pinterest search — then publish it to your boards.
